Question Nokia Connectivity Framework , Eclipse and a BT Dongle

    Hello there,
i'm short on time. developing for my coursework proj, been an idiot for starting so late, but i'd really appreciate help!

I'm developing a app for BT. Well, sending data (plain text) from a phone to a microcontroller via serial port profile.

I'm working on eclipse, using NDS 3.0, and SDK 4.0 prototype with its emulators.

Now, my application is at the stage of searching for bt devices. I got it working in nokia connectivity framework (NCF), using my pcs usb dongle via the BT driver.

but when i run a emulator from within eclipse, that one isn't configured to use the usb dongle via ncf. SO, obviously, it can't find any bt devices, and shows errors.

now, i really need it to work with ncf when launched from within eclipse, because then i can use System.out for debugging purposes using the eclipse console.

So i'd really appreciate some help in this area. am i missing something?? now, in ncf, every time i need to run my program, i need to repackage it as a jar/jad, and then load it in an emulator in ncf which is connected to the usb driver.

can i get the same result, but from withing eclipse? i.e , everytime i select the RUN command in eclipse.

I've got nokia sdk 4.0 prototype beta loaded, AND 2.0, for some reason, and am using nokia developer suite 3.0 for the packaging, and other stuff. well, bottom result is, i can use their emulators from within eclipse without bt, thru ncf WITH BT Dongle support. but i really need eclipse.

again, help will be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot.

    regards,
    Shriansh

Thumbs up Re: Nokia Connectivity Framework , Eclipse and a BT Dongle

    ok..
i did something, and its running as it should have!

well. added a emulator from the terminal sdks tab in ncf
then added bt usb from the hardware tab

made a two way communication between them

    RAN the environment

THEN ran the program in elipse.
    voila

im not gonna change a THING. in case this thing decides to crash on me..

thanks for reading. any tips u might have towards my project WILL be appreciated..

How do you debug your app?

Been using something like printfs but its not good for certain things and you have to clean up afterwards.

    me too. i'm using System.out.print()

i guess another way would be to create a proper activity log. which would come in handy IN the proper application as well. i mean, keep storing the errors in a log object or something..

anyone with any classier methods, feel free to advice
