J2ME application run on the S40,s60,s80

    Dear Nokia,
I want to develop one application to run on the symbian S40, S60, S80.
I think only J2me application can run on the S40, because S40 have no API like symbian S60.

But my application want to auto start when switch on, and run on the backgroud, and need to access the wap browser.

Do you think this can all do in the J2ME on the S40 ?

    no
    you can't
    (sorry)

1/ you can't start automatically your app when the phone starts
2/ on some phones, you can't let the app run in the background, especially if it needs to perform action, like accessing internet
3/ what do you mean by access the wap browser ? the browser, as any native application, is not accessible by a j2me app, as it is not possible to call native functions

but you are right, the only common point for developping on these terminals is java

    Hi,

He could use platformRequest with an http: URL in order to invoke the browser, but I think it will depend on the device considering that it is not required by the MIDP 2.0 spec.

yes, but some devices (especialy in low cost s40) will wait until the app is shut down before to be launched
