    AIF and bitmap masks

    Hi There,

I'm a newbie and I'm working through the EMCC series 60 textbook and all of the examples. One thing I can't make sense of though - what is the purpose of the "mask" bitmaps ? It appears that every icon bmp file has a matching mask bmp file but I've missed the point of why.

Can someone explain it or point me to a reference ?

    TIA

    Sam

    Re: AIF and bitmap masks

the masks are used to mask the icon with the background, thus when the icon is shown in the phone, only the black pixels defined in the mask will have corresponding pixel from the icon shown, all white pixels will show the theme background.
