    Unique ID from java on Nokia E61

    Hi, Im working on an application that identifies it self towards our server with a user name and a password. I would like this client to also send a unique Id (ie IMEI or anything else unique for this device and/or SIM) together with the user/pass to prevent this user from being used from other devices.

    Is this doable with JSR177?
    Does System.getProperty("com.nokia.mid.imei") work on E61?

    or is there any other way to solve this?

    I know that this hasn't been possible on MIDP1 or standard MIDP2 devices earlier, but is it with these new devices?

    All answeres thoughts apreciated.

    I don't know if this solves your issue but the bluetooth API (jsr-82) has this class UUID (universally unique identifier). When a user logs in the first time, you could generate one of those and save it in the RMS of the phone.

    I tried:
    LocalDevice.getLocalDevice().getBluetoothAddress() ;
    And it seems to work fine until the user turns of bluetooth on the device. So this isn't an alternative.

    I'm using System.getProperty("com.nokia.mid.imei") and it works fine all the time.

    But I guess that we will have to get the app signed before it is released.
