Question is it possible to scale a java application on n90?

    hi,

i'm trying to scale a 6680 midlet to the resolution of the N90
by using this two entrys in JAD and manifest:

    Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: 176,208
    Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: 352,416

like described in the document "Introduction To The S60 Scalable UI" ... but there is no affect the application is still only a quarter of the screen.
(my application uses the nokia.ui fullcanvas)

is there another possibility? or did i forgot something ?

Re: is it possible to scale a java application?

I've also tried to scale a J2ME application using the Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size parameter.

According to Nokia docs it should work? I know often these parameters only work when OTAing the app, and I've tried that but it still doesn't work.

The N90 doesn't seem fast enough to run apps in it's native X2 resolution...

Nokia: Is there some way to get the screen scaling to work? Has anyone out there had any luck yet?

Unfortunately it seems that the scaling feature doesn't work on S60-3rd Gen.

The Nokia document mentioned in the previous post, implies that the scaling feature existed in S60 - 2nd Gen but was removed for 3rd Gen.

For our game (JSR-184) we used a QVGA build, with a border around the screen. However the phone is not much more powerful than an N70 so it has difficulty keeping a good framerate.... it's a shame but unless someone from Nokia knows something we don't, games for this phone will look very poor.

I am not sure exactly what the goal is here, but I will try to help anyway.
You should be able to get the size of the Canvas by using getWidth() and getHeight(). Can you use this to scale your game appropriately to your needs?

    Did anyone get this working?

I'm trying to get standard 176*208 games to run on the higher res screen phones without having to recode things. Is this possible with these jad/manifest settings? The S-E device can do this now, for example.
