    6680 doesn't run midlet

    I can install my midlet on the 6680, but when I try to open it, it just gives me a white screen and then goes back to the listing of midlets. This midlet works on other platforms (Palm, PocketPC, Siemens phone) so the problem is clearly with the Nokia MIDP implementation.
    I have no clue what to look for, since there is no error message. I saw some more occurences of my problem on other forums, but no solution... can anybody help?

    Thanks,

    Sander

    What kind of MIDlet?

    The 6680 supports MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.1 + JSR-120, JSR-135, JSR-185, JSR-85, JSR-82 + the Nokia UI API.

    Which functions/classes/APIs/JSRs is your MIDlet using/depending on?

    I had the same thing happen to me, but only when trying to do something in the startapp method that was throwing an unhandled exception. Catch all your exceptions, and along way you might find what is causing it. Took me awhile, but I overcame! Si se puede!

    sammy,

    Please check whether u r using any api which is not supported by 6680.
    As Jason mentioned, catch all the possible exceptions.

    I'm using the RMS system, MMAPI & Http connections (though the last two not in the start-up cycle or first screen of the midlet) anyway, just standard imports:

    import javax.microedition.io.*;
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;
    import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
    import javax.microedition.media.*;

    Okay, so we are talking about runtime exceptions here then? What can I do to debug them (will System.out.println give me anything on the 6680? Or System.err?)
    Btw all the work is done in the constructor of the midlet, not the startapp method. Might be bad style but it works... So according to you I want to do a try{ MyMidlet = new MyMidlet(..) } catch(Exception e // ugh...){ // print it to somewhere? }

    Thanks!

    System.out or System.err will not give you any output on real devices. Only works on emulators. Only thing to use is to attach your error to a form and display it, or to display alerts.

    And you are initializing your MIDlet in the constructor? Afaik, MIDlets are automatically initialized when the app is started...

    Cheers.

    Hi sammy,

    6680 supports JSR 75 fileconnection. So u can write the error messages as a file in the filesystem. This may be more helpful in tracking ur problem
