Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

so, so frustrating, cant't TMO just give developers a little break, and allow the user to choose whether they want to allow app access or not?

I bit my tongue on the rest I was going to post! ; )

BTW: Has anyone EVER figured out the URL to TMO's developer website...if you try and google something similar, you end up getting search resluts relating to this post...too funny!

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

    Guys,
Any one found the solution? I have Nokia 6133 with T-Mobile Carrier. I bought a cert from Verisign. It still wont allow midlet to access the internet. Does anyone know what should do now? Why is it not working?
    Does unlocking the phone helps?

Any ideas will be invaluable at this time.

    Thanks,
    Praj

Unfortunately there is no trusted 3rd party domain on T-Mobile U.S. devices. See here.

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

Ok...I am kinda frustated with T-Mobile. I would never recommend anyone to go with T-Mobile. I have Sprint phone, my app works perfectly fine. Although I have "Semi trusted" domain, I can atleast test my app.

I am gonna get a new carrier...Please anyone suggest me which carrier will be lesser hassle, which is "run my app to test it" like sprint phones.....I know sprint doesnt have network in Europe as I know of..please let me know if they have which I dont know of..

Advice with device along with the carrier would be great:

    My requirements are these:
    1) should work in Europe AND US..any network would be fine..as long as it
works properly..even though I have to unlock the phone.
    2) J2ME platform
    3) Wireless API
    4) Bluetooth with Obex
    5) GPS (Optional)

Thanks in advance..its been weeks trying to solve this problem..I know my company has to have some kind of partnership with T-Mobile..but I dont know HOW to approach T-Mobile?

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

What exactly did you mean by change it by 02? If you meant by upgrading your software inside the phone, there are many shops where you can upgrade the version of the phone. You have to research about it. I did it in the cricket phone shop.

Hey do you know how to become a partner with T-Mobile, so that I can access the restricted APIs..phone number(besides customer support) OR some kind of websites?

    Thanks,

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

Could this be the reason why my MIDlet doesn't send messages on my t-mobile Samsung phone?

Anytime i try sending an sms message using my MIDlet it just closes the MIDlet or goes back to the index panel of the MIDlet.

Guys what doyou think? Is it a general samsung problem or because it's t-mobile?

Could be. There should be some place also on Samsung phones to change the application access settings. Try to find that place and check what are the API access settings for your MIDlet.

Thumbs up Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

hart, samsung phones are like jail. Everything is so difficult to do...from downloading to installing to getting to let ur application run on the phone.
I hate their phones when it comes to development, but am forced to do something on it now cuz my app has to work with a wide majority of mobile phones. I tell ya, it aint even funny for me.

I will try getting the suite for the phone so i can try navigating through the phones system to get the file so i can see what i can do.

    Thanks man.

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

    Hi,

I know this post is quite old now, but we seem to have run into the problem of T-Mobile in the US blocking http connections.

We have an app that works on UK devices, but as soona s we try it in the US, if fails at the http connection stage?

Does any one know what we have to do to make it work over there?

    Thanks

    Adrian

Re: Nokia 6101 Locked 2 TMobile Midlet can't access internet...

T-Mobile customers in the US must sign up for the Total Internet plan in order to use ports other than 25, 110, 143, 465, 587, 993, 995, 8080. However, if you only need to use one of those ports, you can sign up T-MobileWeb instead, which is much cheaper.

It should be noted that they use two different APNs:
    T-MobileWeb - wap.voicestream.com - 8 open ports - $5.99
    Total Internet - internet2.voicestream.com - all ports are open - $29.99

    I hope that helps.
