List of Nokia phones with JSR75

Hi, I have a very simple MIDlet application in which it uses JSR75's FileConnection API.. it works perfectly on my WTK emulator but I found out that it wont work on my Nokia 6260 because my phone dont support JSR75..

    Now, here's my question:
    1. Is it possible to install JSR75 FileConnection API on my Nokia 6260? if yes, how?

    2. if my question#1 is not possible, then can you give me a complete list of Nokia mobile phones with JSR75 support ??

    thanks

    1. No.

    2. No list, but you can look at it device-by-device on http://forum.nokia.com/devices (all S60/Series 60 devices based on S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 2, or later, should support JSR-75 & I think also all Series 40 2nd edition devices & later, but I'm not sure).

The information provided at the above link and some other info given at http://www.forum.nokia.com/series60#java is misleading about what API your device supports. There it is mentioned that:

The S60 platform 2nd Edition adds J2ME MIDP 2.0 with enhanced performance from the CLDC HotSpot compiler. In addition, a number of new Java Specification Requests (JSRs) are implemented, including Mobile 3D Graphics API (JSR 184), Java™ APIs for Bluetooth (JSR 82), and FileConnection API (JSR 75).

and the link given by PetriB says that e.g. 6600 supports Series 60 Developer Platform 2.0. So, this would mean that 6600 supports the FileConnection API which is incorrect. i ran the recommended (see http://developers.sun.com/techtopics...ion/index.html) System.getProperty("microedition.io.file.FileConnection.version") and it returned null.

So i would recomend that you run this test in your application at the start to determine whether your target phone can proceed as desired or not.

Nokia 6630, 6680 and N70 supports JSR-75 FileConnection API. But it's kinda crappy though, the security manager of 6630 and 6680 is too restrictive on unsigned midlet

Re: List of Nokia phones with JSR75

for the question 2, the list can be found through Forum Nokia device spec pages
    http://forum.nokia.com/devices

    Check the Search by feature,
Yes, it is quite complicated search form, but you can create a list of devices containing any specific Java API for example

Just curious: arpi2agrawal, why are you replying in 2009 to a post/thread made in 2006 (over two and a half years ago, and which was already answered in 2006 with the same answer you gave now)?

    Hi,
Which device you are working with?
You just check the settings of your project.Just move towards your application,go to the Application Manager then - Suite setting - check whether it has been set as "Not Allowed"
    put the appropriate setting,
    Hope this can help you
    Thanks with Regards,

IMEI number can only be accessed in some phones and that too if your MIDlet is signed in manufacturer or operator domain.
In short, you cannot access IMEI number in J2ME
