Read Chinese Text file and Display Chinese on Canvas Problem?

I am developing a MIDP application to display chinese word on Canvas. I have 3 questions as follows:
    1. I want to read a chinese text file. What encoding scheme (UTF-8 or UTF-16) needed to adopt? What InputStream or Reader class needed to use?
    2. Can I store the UTF encoded text in String and display on Canvas later?
    3. If the above was wrong, any suggestion to my problem?

    Thanks!

hi, i am developing chinese midlet,
i read the data from network, i am using readUTF() to read the chinese data so it can display on canvas. (in current version, only canvas, and form.append(string) works on chinese, all others UI as List, ChoiceGroup, doesn't support chinese on chinese version 7650

RE: Read Chinese Text file and Display Chinese on Canvas Problem?

    Hello Developer

We are a bunch of three college students who have developed an English-Arabic translator using MIDP. We had come across the problem of displaying fonts in arabic. After some research we decided to use Unicode to display Arabic characters. The unicodes thingy have a unicode for every letter for every language (including left and right joins) This is what i suggest you use. We dont have any idea about UTF. What is it? Is it something like Unicode.

How to read a file with chinese text in MIDP? Is it needed to encode to other formats in order to do so?
