    This post is directed to the responsible Nokia employee

    Hello four month ago I submitted my applcation (java midlet) to java verified.
    My app access the MMC of an 6230i Nokia mobile phone. the algorithm I use to access the mmc is:
    String mydir = System.getProperty("fileconn.dir.memorycard");
    FileConnection getwdir = (FileConnection)Connector.open(mydir+"cdir/",Connector.READ_WRITE);
    the jad filecontains following permissions:
    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.read, javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.write, javax.microedition.pim.EventList.read, javax.microedition.pim.EventList.write, javax.microedition.pim.ContactList.read, javax.microedition.pim.ContactList.write
    is there a chance to get this midlet working?

    On my Handset (6230i German Vodafone variant Firmware: 3.40) the midlet works fine (without write access to mmc):
    FileConnection getwdir = (FileConnection)Connector.open(mydir+"cdir/",Connector.READ);

    I don't see why it wouldn't work. Please remember that, in order to require the permissions, you midlet must be signed.

    Have you got any results from Java Verified yet?

    Thank you very much for your reply.
    I do, the test provider is not able to download the midlet because of an error, that there is something wrong with the temp code signing cert.
    Which test provider do you use. May be the one I use is not able to test application like this one.

    What kind of certificate you are using to sign your midlet? A self-generated one?

    I asked the test provider to request a temporary code signing cert from java verified. As far as I know they tried to import this cert to the key pair and signed the app. But they didn't updated me on that.

    On a real Nokia Series 40 you need a fully qualified cert. Test (different CA) or self-signed do no work for code signing.

    Ok. I have sended my mobile Application to java Verified to get it tested for being signed (to get a CA cert). The problem they (the test provider) has is, that an error message appears during the download: invalid certificate. AFAIK this message appears because the app is not been signed the right way. I tried to sign the app too but I received the same message. The fingerprint of the code signing cert didn't appear in the Window of the Developer suite 2.1. I followed the instruction of the Tutorial on signing midlets. The app must be signed with a temp cert for being tested.
    Can someone give me the name of the test provider how is able to sign an app?
