    Problem Installing Carbide.C++ Express 1.0

    Hi,

    I'm trying to install carbide.c++ express 1.0 on my WinXP machine.

    After I click all of the "next" buttons of the install wizard the installation starts. At some point a dialog box titled "component transfer error" appears. It's content says:

    Component: Carbide.c++ tools
    File group: <empty>
    File: <empty>
    Error: Catastrophic failure

    (<empty> stands for nothing, there's an empty space there)

    Why does this happen and is there a way to bypass this problem?

    Alternatively, is there a newer or older version of Carbide.c++ express I can try to install hoping for better outcome?

    Thanks in advance!

    I suspect that somehow the installer has become corrupted during download, pls try to download again. There is just one version available.

    Some more instructions around the same situation:

    ------------ snip ----------

    To fix this:

    Double-click the My Computer icon.

    Locate and double-click Program Files.

    Locate and double-click Common Files.

    Right-click the InstallShield folder and select Rename.

    Name the folder InstallShieldOld

    Once you have done this, navigate to My Computer > C: > Windows > Temp and delete any files you find in there. (Note: Just the inside the temp folder only)

    Once you have completed these two steps, try installing again

    ------------- snap ---------------

    Re: Problem Installing Carbide.C++ Express 1.0

    Sorry, no. The issue is caused by some bug in the installer itself (which is not made by Nokia), these were the suggestions for workarounds that could be found. Do you have an other machine you can use?

    In this case, isn't there another version of the installation that uses another installer?
    I don't mind using even a beta or even manual installation guide...

    I cannot use another computer.

    Ok, I just wanted to check and make sure you were using the right version. This does sound like it is the previously mentioned bug. Im not sure if there is another version of the installation that could be provided. We will look into this and get back with you.
