    Carbide.vs 2.0.1 + Visual Studio 2005

Can Carbide.vs 2.0.1 work with Visual Studio 2005?

I'm trying to install Carbide.vs 2.0.1 on top of a Visual Studio 2005 machine. The installation aborts saying it doesn't find Visual Studio 2003. Is this a real problem or just a malformed preliminary condition check on behalf of the installer (and if so how can it be overcome)?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't think Visual Studio 2005 is officially supported by Carbide.vs.

Until now, I couldn't manage to make it working in Visual Studio 2005. So, I just use Carbide.c++ instead.

Carbide.Vs needs Visual Studio 2003 to work with.
I was also not able to manage to work with 2005 as what Antony experienced.

Better you install Visual Studio 2003 or better you can migrate to Carbide.C++.

    All the best.

I'm pretty sure that is not the answer that is looked for. What we want to hear (at the worst) is: "Our team is currently working on it".

VS.2005 is a very good product and as far as it's text editing capabilities go, it outstrips what carbide (aka Eclipse) does easily. Not only that, why on earth should we have to download Perl, and java so that we can code in C++???? ludicrous!

Furthermore, if there is already a VS.2003 plugin, a VS.2005 should not be that hard. (PS I would volunteer to provide such a tool if you would supply the VS.2003 plugin source )

This is a very good question. Let official "Nokia" moderator answer this question. IMHO, opening the plugin to open source community may be a good idea.

From my personal opinion, there are some reasons for not supporting VS 2005:

    - Nokia wants to push their own IDE, Carbide.c++ (they're planning to make money out of it). It's still far from perfect (especially compared to VS 2005). I agree that Visual Studio is one best IDEs out there. However, Nokia have been trying to improve the product.

    - All the latest SDKs don't support WINS platform any more (it is for Visual C++ studio compilation). They now support WINSCW, which is based on CodeWarrior compiler. As you may know there are some differences between those two compilers. I don't think Nokia are willing to maintain two versions of emulator platform.
