Problem to port the application onto a nokia hand set

    Hi friends,

I have devloped few applications using J2ME wireless kit and the SDKs.
'*.jad' and '*.jar' files have been created. Now i am having problem in porting the applicaions on to a real hand set.It seems we can port our applications only in '*.sys' format. Is it true.If yes,how to do it.Are we supposed to use some other s/w like metrowerk or something.
    Please give some suggetions.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Ankit

You can install jar/jad files on phones, .sis files are installation packages for native Symbian applications. Transfer the files (or start transfering the jar file only) to the phone, and installation is pretty automatic/straightforward from there. On many handsets Bluetooth transfer from your PC works. However on older Series 40 phones you need to transfer the files for example using PC Suite.

Remember, that even if your application works on emulator, it might take a while to get it working on a specific device (for example the J2ME implementation on the device might not support the things you are trying to do, like floating point arithmetics or streaming)

I dont think it supports floating point, but there are some external libs/classes you can use, as well as workaround I saw with using two ints for the float value, i.e. 1.5 would be intI=1 intJ=5

    Not very nice though

CLDC 1.0 does not support floats or doubles, but CLDC 1.1 adds floating point support.
For more information see JSR-139 spec on www.jcp.org.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks all of you for your suggetions.I have been able to put it on the device. But now a new problem. It says that the version is old.I have used MIDP 2.0 with CLDC 1.1 as i wanted support for floats. Is it because of that or the reason is something else?

also, check your MIDP and CLDC system.properties, just to be safe

probably is CLDC 1.0, and as Hartti pointed out, neccessitto CLDC 1.1
