    SMS port Address

    hi

    i want to send SMS to other mobile device using J2ME application.

    for sending SMS i have used

    addr = "sms://+" + addr + ":" + port;
    MessageConnection conn =
    (MessageConnection) Connector.open(addr);

    so which port address i have 2 write here to send SMS.

    Hi jasmitvala,

    You server side messaging Inbox MIDlet must use a port that's not reserved or in use. So you're going to use sms://:available_port

    Your client will send the message using the device's phone number + available server side port. Now sms://addr:available_port where addr is the Inbox MIDlet phone #, e.g, sms://+123456789:available_port.

    Again, you need to define a port, a chosen one for the server side and use it on the client side for sending msgs.

    but if we want to send SMS to default device where there is no any install receiver but the mobile default one is there to get SMS. so my Q. is which port mobile itself uses for thier own sending and recieving SMS.

    if u know then pls tell me.

    You're welcome! Just do not specify a port, the message will be available in the end user's inbox.

    hello,
    if you don't specify a port (addr = "sms://+" + telNumber;
    ...
    ...

    the mobile phone will receive the message.
