Re: S60-SDK3 not present in list of SDKs

Hello, maybe this is not the place to post this note, but there it goes:

I've installed Carbide.c++ Express (english version) in a machine with Spanish OS (Win2K ES) and the devices.xml is placed in C:\Archivos de Programa\Archivos Comunes\Symbian

Carbide is unable to find any SDK and it won't compile anything. I've manually created C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian and copied devices.xml to that location, and ALAS!! it finds every SDK. It seems there's a bug in the IDE and it's not using the Win32 API calls to find the system reserved directory for Common Files. Anyway, just in case somebody has the same problem :-P

Re: Can't find SDKs on Spanish XP machine

If Carbide can't find the devices.xml in the default location it checks for this registry key, which is created by some of the SDKs when they are installed:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symbian\EPOC SDKs\CommonPath

Try creating this and see if that works for you. I'll pass on your comment about the Win32 API, but much of Carbide is written in Java so I'm not sure if that is an option.

    Regards,

    Matt P.

Re: Can't find SDKs on Spanish XP machine

Hi - Can you try to run this command at a command prompt and post your output?
    ---
    reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symbian\EPOC SDKs\" /v CommonPath
    ---
    You _should_ get output like:
    ---
    ! REG.EXE VERSION 3.0

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symbian\EPOC SDKs
    CommonPath REG_SZ C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian
    --

The IDE uses this call rather than a JNI call to a Win32 API.

    Thanks,
    Tim
