    RE: mmsc cdr size

    Hi,

hope this might be helpful to you....

How big can an MMS message be?

The standard does not specify a maximum size for an MMS message. This is done to ensure future interoperability, to avoid the SMS dilemma, where the 160-character limit has been problematic because the message length has usually been limited to 160 characters.

The message size is, therefore, an implementation issue. It is also dependent on operator preferences, if they want to have a standardized message size for charging purposes. Nokia foresees that initially the MMS messages will be between 30 kb and 100 kb in size.

    Related to your questions....

How is MMS related to GPRS?

Since MMS messages are heavier in size, the faster way of downloading and sending is via GPRS. Therefore this means that you use GPRS as the medium for sending MMS messages.

Sending of MMS messages via CSD (circuit switched data) is possible but response time will be really slow.

What is the average size of an MMS message?

The average size of an MMS message is around 10 kB with text and 30 kB with text, image and audio.

What is the maximum size of a picture that can be included in an MMS?

The maximum size is 30kb per MMS message.
