Help me in Java Verified Process

    Hi friends,

I have developed an J2ME application using MIDP1.0. Now I want to get it signed by the Java Verified Process(JVP). But in the below link they are asking for "Developer Identity".

    http://javaverified.com/jvProcess.jsp

There they told that my app. must have been signed by a trusted C.A., to start testing by JVP.

    My questions are
    1) Does this required for apps. developed in MIDP1.0?
    2) Can we send self-signed apps. to the JVP process?

Also please tell me where I can get trusted PKI certificate (cheaper one)

    Thanks all
    Ravi

Re: Help me in Java Verified Process

no, you cannot send self signed apps to java verified

there is no reason to java verify your midp 1.0 app, if you intend it to run only on midp 1.0 capable devices

unless you are trying to get into a carriers channel, and they require it.

MIDP 1.0 devices, cannot use security permissions, so signing will have no effect on those devices, unless the carrier, has put some restrictions on the device, in which you might need permissions to use some simple such as an external http connection

Signing will have an effect on MIDP 2.0 device, that are running your 1.0 code, as 2.0 includes security permissions

If you want to go the javaverified route, you will have to get a code signing cert from a respected CA such as Verisign, just to name one. Research it first, there are only two or three that are known to have their root certificates on the majority of device, i.e. verisign is possibly the leader and safest, though most expensive

    good luck

Hi aravindra, I'm very sorry to here that you have also problems with the java verified Program. But for me it is nice to know that I'm not the only one. I am waiting now for four month getting my app tested / signed. Hopefully its getting faster with your app.
    Best Regards
