JSR 82 on Nokia 6021 does not recognise bluetooth sensor

I have a java midlet which runs on the Nokia 6021. It can successful find my PC with a bluetooth dongle and another bluetooth phone.
However, it cannot find a bluetooth sensor device.
This line is not being called:
    public void deviceDiscovered(RemoteDevice btDevice, DeviceClass cod) {

A Symbian C program on the Nokia 6021 can find the bluetooth sensor device.

Using the BT Browser from Benhui, I can see for the bluetooth sensor these details:
    BT Address 00A0960AE0F8
    BT Name: null
    Autn: false
    Encrypted: false
    Trusted: false
    Major Devices: Uncategorized

Does the bluetooth sensor have to supply more information for the JSR 82 to recognise it?

Any ideas what I can do to make my midlet find the bluetooth sensor.
    Many thanks,
    John

It might be that the J2ME implementation on your device does not support the Bluetooth connection method the sensor is using.

When the Benhui browser works and finds the device on your Nokia 6021, than you are able to find it, too. What are you talking about Symbian OS? A Nokia 6021 does not have Symbian OS.

Re: JSR 82 on Nokia 6021 does not recognise bluetooth sensor

Thank you for both replies, I don't have too many leads on this one.

Sorry Traud, I didn't fully explain, the phone the Symbian application runs is the Nokia 6680, it can discover the sensor device. My java midlet runs on the Nokia 6680 and the 6021, it can discover other bluetooth phones and my PC and services but not the sensor device. The BT browser returns the details of the sensor device on both phones but the midlet still cannot see it.

Hartti, what to you mean? The JSR 82 part of the J2ME implementation does not support the sensor? Do I need to configure the BCC on the 6021 phone? If so, where would I find out how to do this?
I could configure the sensor to send back a device name.
What question should I ask that sensor device manufactory regarding their connection method in order to find out what is lacking?
The sensor device is the Slave.
    Best regards,
    John

Have you tried your MIDlet on the Nokia 6680? When Benhui's BT Browser works with this sensor on a Nokia 6021 and 6680 but your code does not, then you simply have a bug in your code.

Re: JSR 82 on Nokia 6021 does not recognise bluetooth sensor

    Hi Traud,
My midlet code is the Nokia sample midlet btsppEcho (attached to the article "Introduction To Developing Networked MIDlets Using Bluetooth"). This has a client and a server component. The server searches for bluetooth devices. It cannot find my sensor bluetooth device but it can find other bluetooth phones and PC. I have run it on the 6680 and the 6021.
I don't have the code for the BT Browser which can find the bluetooth sensor. Do you know how the two midlet's might differ?
    Many thanks,
    John

Why are you using such a complex example, when you experience problems? The example you mention uses its own UUID. Or am I wrong?

Setup a clean service discovery yourself. Learn and understand each line of code and it should work.
