AT Commands and then getting the BSOD

I've been trying to write a simple program in VB6 using MScomm to send SMS messages using the AT commands with my 6230 (over BT). (Very simple, very noobish )
I can do all the commands and things in HyperTerminal and it works out fine, but in VB6, after I open the port and attempt to test the connection by just sending "AT", my computer gets the BSOD and reboots.
I found a program that does what I want in VB6, and when I ran it I got the BSOD again.
I am using WIDCOMM drivers (because WIDCOMM makes my BT device). Perhaps I should try and use the MS drivers...who knows.

I tried another BT device (came with a MS BT Mouse) and used MS drivers, and it worked fine. No BSOD. Guess it's the WIDCOMM...
