"invalid file" error when installing midlet on 6600

I have seen all of the discussion on the board about this problem, but for the life of me, I cannot see what is wrong with our application.

Our midlet is built with wtk2.3 (have tried wtk2.2 as well). I have tried with and without obsfucation (proguard 3.5).

From previous discussion it seems that the most common cause is a manifest/.jad problem. Are there any other possibilities?

Below are the manifest and .jad files.

    Manifest ....
    MIDlet-1: RMEngine, /RMEngineIcon.png, com.roamingmessenger.rm.RMEngine
    MIDlet-Description: Roaming Messenger Engine
    MIDlet-Name: Roaming Messenger
    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.http,javax.microed
    ition.io.Connector.https
    MIDlet-Permissions-Opt: javax.microedition.io.PushRegistry,javax.micro
    edition.io.Connector.sms,javax.wireless.messaging.sms.receive
    MIDlet-Vendor: Roaming Messenger, Inc.
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

    .jad ...

    AAlertImages: /alert_
    Background: True
    FlipInsensitive: True
    MIDlet-1: RMEngine, /RMEngineIcon.png, com.roamingmessenger.rm.RMEngine
    MIDlet-Description: Roaming Messenger Engine
    MIDlet-Icon: /RMEngineIcon.png
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 170503
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: RMEngine.jar
    MIDlet-Name: Roaming Messenger
    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.http,javax.microedition.io.Connector.https
    MIDlet-Permissions-Opt: javax.microedition.io.PushRegistry,javax.microedition.io.Connector.sms,javax.wireless.messaging.sms.receive
    MIDlet-Push-1: sms://:50000, com.roamingmessenger.rm.RMEngine, *
    MIDlet-Vendor: Roaming Messenger, Inc.
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Jim

Re: "invalid file" error when installing midlet on 6600

How are you transfering the MIDLet to the device? If its via OTA, then please check the MIME types of JAR/JAD in the server.

Hope this discussion is of some interest

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Tried both OTA and Bluetooth. Our server has the correct MIME types.

Most common mistake is a wrong midlet size in the jad file. Double check the size of the jar file :-)

    Hi Jim,

Maybe it's an issue with your permissions in JAD and manifest. See the following:

"If one or more requested permissions on the MIDlet-Permissions attribute are not in the protection domain, the installation will not be allowed to continue. On the other hand, if some of the requested MIDlet-Permissions-Opt are not in the protection domain, the installation can proceed."

    Hope it helps!

    BR,

    Juarez Jr
