Lightbulb How to start with a 6230 (Windows Application)

    Hi,

i want to write a Windows application which reads out the calendar of my 6230. Where do I have to start?
Is there an API for the PC Suite which I can use or do I have to use a native phone SDK?
Is there a SDK which is compatible with Series 40 phones for Windows apps? All I've found was a Java DSK for building Java apps which run on the phone, but not on Windows.
Is there a .Net/C# solution or do I have to deal with c++?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Himalian

    Hi Himalian,

Check my answers, some might not be right

Well, first of all let's remember that Nokia 6230 is a Series 40 device. That's important onwards. I've never heard of such application but i may be wrong. Well, the only option i can see is extracting the PIM information from this device and perhaps sending it by means of a Bluetooth connection with the PC. Take a look at the bluecove stack. http://www.benhui.net/modules.php?na...ne_Part_1.html

Is there an API for the PC Suite which I can use or do I have to use a native phone SDK?
Native APIs are available only to S60 (Symbian OS) phones. Nokia 6230 uses Nokia OS.

Is there a SDK which is compatible with Series 40 phones for Windows apps? All I've found was a Java DSK for building Java apps which run on the phone, but not on Windows.
If considering windows development i'd go for Visual C++, Visual Studio, C++ Builder, MingW + Blodshed Dev C++ or the like. But in fact, i'm not sure if i understood the "SDK which is compatible with Series 40 phones for Windows apps" thing

Is there a .Net/C# solution or do I have to deal with c++?

Try using Java JME APIs - JSR-82 and JSR-75 (PIM and FileConnection). It seems to be feasible depending on your requirements.
