    bluetooth on target debugging

    Hi!

I am using Borland C++ builder X 1.5 Ide along with Nokia 6600 for on targrt debugging.

    I am getting this message

    "C:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_B\epoc32\gcc\bin\gdb.exe" --nw --annotate=2 --nx GNU gdb 4.17-psion-98r2
Copyright 1998 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

Type "show copying" to see the conditions.
There is absolutely no warranty for GDB. Type "show warranty" for details.
This version of GDB has been modified by Symbian Ltd. to add EPOC support.
Type "show epoc-version" to see the EPOC-specific version number.
This GDB was configured as "--host=i686-pc-cygwin32 --target=arm-epoc-pe".
    (gdb)

finally a pop up message appears on the window GDBstub not connected although the bluetooth serial connection appears OK(by indicating green colour)

please help me find a solution

    thanks

    Re: bluetooth on target debugging

To debug using GDB over bluetooth you need to run a program on the host device, in your case the 6600, for GDB to connect to. Unfortunatly this isn't supported on Nokia 1.x and 2.x phones so though GDB can create the Bluetooth connection the but GDBSTUB, as it is known, is not running on the device (6600) so the connection fails.

Simply put, there is not an On-Target Debugging solution for Nokia phones currently. Carbide will be providing On-Target Debugging for S60 3rd edition phones when Carbide Pro and OEM are launched.

    Hope this helps :)

this document is there at the Nokia forum. Can you explain me the implications of it.

Smile Re: bluetooth on target debugging

I have just read quickly throught the document. Though it may be possible to have GDB work on-target using Borland BuilderX C++, seraching the web it looks as it's difficult to get it to work consistently.

In this thread http://forum.newlc.com/index.php/topic,3908.0.html it recommends using SDK 2nd FP1.

Sorry that I cannot be of more help :)
