Lightbulb echanging information Via the WAP Browser In Hebrew.

    Hi,

I am creting an application based on the web with ASP code which sends information from and to the Mobile phone (series 60).

    My problem is:

the language which I am using is Hebrew.the cell phone which I am using (S60 series – Nokia 6230i) is also Hebrew enabled, yet, when I write the information which ought to be send to the server on the net it arrives to the browser as Gibrish (@#$SFA#).
Please advise – how can I encode the code in a way which will know how to read the content which the Nokia's sends over the WEB ?

could the problem result from the server which i am using ?!

    please advise - i'm freaking out !!!

You use bad titles, shout (caption), have bad grammer (overuse of ! and ?) do cross-postings, do not test enough and cannot wait three days for an answer (1, 2, 3 and 4) … why should anyone reply? Please avoid cross posting, make good titles as this one, be a bit more patient and try to test more – especially when you are aware of the problem.

Yes, most likely it is your web server or ASP code. Try to capture the HTTP and HTML logs of your web server or even better, take a Terminal and do a HTTP 1.1 GET request for the same URL as with your Nokia.

Have you tried to use UTF-8 instead of any exotic Windows-specific charset?

Re: echanging information Via the WAP Browser In Hebrew.

Sorry for My pressure, it's just that i have a deadline and i'm almost off it.
anyways... i tried all sorts of coding - UTF8 ISO8859-1/8 you name it, yet nothing helps.

the strange thing about it is that the Hebrew text which is being sent to the nokia is Fine. yet, the text that is being sent FROM the nokia to the server is as if not decoded right - i haven't add any XHTML/WML code line (like RESPONSE.) to my ASP code - maybe this is the problem ?
if i wil u/l the ASP code - could some here please give me an advise ?!

    ThX.

    P.S
also sorry for the bad grammer - it's just that im not a native english speaker.

You should always set the content type before sending it to the browser (or phone in this case), unless your server is specifically serving the correct content type by default.

I thought there was a hebrew version of Google

Anyway, this should give you the idea. Include this on your page before anything is sent to the browser:

    Code:
    <%
    	Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.wap.xhtml+xml; charset=UTF-8"
    %>
Change to whatever fits your requirements.
    Cheers,
