Exclamation Arabic and chinese character in MIDP

    Hello,

I am trying to developpe an MIDP application which display some arabic character …

My application download an UTF-8 encoding file which containes some arabic character ....

In the sun emulator it is ok ... The arabic characters are well displayed .. but il the Nokia emulator the arabic characters are not displayed...

On real nokia , and sony erricson device emulator the arabic characters are not displayed...

    - Do you know how to display arabic letter on a MIDP application ?
    - Do you know Where to find a converter ? like descibed here for chinese character :
    --------------------
    i) type a character in normal unicode
ii) character is sent thru a converter in the midlet which recognizes the unicode input and output accordingly using a line drawing algorithm, to produce whatever output is intended.
iii) then, result is shown on screen as "line-drawn" chinese character.

Does your Nokia emulator support Arabic charactors?

I have come across this Series 40 Platform SDKs World Languages.
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,6566,034-522,00.html
Previously I have installed this in S40 3rd Ed SDK to try some applications in other languages.

    Hi ,

    First thanks for your help
I am From France in Paris and my device and emulator does not support ARABIC but I succeed to launch some application that run on my device like :

( in the bottom of this page ) we can read the Coran in arabic on all MIDP device even if Arabic is not supported

    http://www.mobiquran.com/index.php?x=screens
I think they use a converter to draw each ARABIC letters

If someone know more information ... or where to find a converter which allow us to draw arabic letters on the screen

    Thanks again

Exclamation Re: Arabic and chinese character in MIDP

    Hello,

Oups I have made an error , your are right this application use image (located in the jar file) in order to display each letters ...

    But this application :
    http://www.searchtruth.com/mobile/download_mobile.php
does not use image in order display ARABIC character

They use a converter which allow them to create a image which represent an arabic character
they use the method : createRGBImage

If someone have more information thanks a lot ...
