    Connection problem!

    Hi

We have made a mobil-application that uses MIDP 1.0 and CLDC 1.0.
We have tested the mob-appl. with the "Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0 for Java" and Nokia 6100 it works just fine.

But when we tested it with Nokia 3410 and 5100, we get a connection to the internett problem?

    What can be done?

    Best regards
    Jan-Terje S.

    Jan-Terje S,

Which connection type are you talking about? Please inform that and note that MIDP 1.0 mandates HttpConnection as a connection type, only.

Hi Kennneth! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!!

Have you tried connecting to internet/browsing wap pages in 3410 and 5100 ? Does it work fine? Please check whether the Internet/Wap settings are correct.

Both phones works fine with internet/browsing wap pages.
And we are using "... (StreamConnection) Connector.open(socket://..." as connection

    Re: Connection problem!

    Hi Jan-Terje S.,

Nokia 3410 is a MIDP 1.0 device, so socket connections won't be supported (they were introduced in MIDP 2.0). This same consideration is valid for Nokia 5100.

Check the specs in case you want:

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,0...tml?model=5100

    Hope it helps!

    .
Kenneth, you said your app worked fine in 6100 which is a Series 40 Developer Platform 1.0(MIDP 1.0) device. Do you mean the device in this link?? http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,0...tml?model=6100
    Please verify.

    Hi

I was wrong, it was not the 6100, it was 6610i. http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,0...ml?model=6610i

    Hi Jan-Terje S.,

The same socket considerations do apply to this device as well - Nokia 6610i - it's MIDP 1.0 and CLDC 1.0. Are you sure it's working on it? I cannot understand the reasons why...

    Hope it helps!

    Re: Connection problem!

But how is it that I can use GPRS and WAP but not the socket connection with my 5100 and with my 6610i it all works?

We have tested with some other mobiles.. and it seems like it randomly works on them... its weird since its working on all the different emilators on the "Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0 for Java"?

What changes can i do on Internet/Wap settings on my 5100 that might help getting it to work?

    Re: Connection problem!

    Hi Hi Jan-Terje S.,

I don't know the answer, unfortunately. I doubt if we should consider those devices different than MIDP 1.0 ones, though.

Maybe a Nokia Expert will comment on that
