    S60 3rd Edition SDK

Hello. I'm writing a midlet to do streaming from a rtsp server.
I downloaded the S60 3rd edition sdk and I've read in the documentation that rtsp is supported by the implementation and that i can create a player passing a rtsp locator.
I've mp4 file on the Darwin server.
    I do:

    Manager.createPlayer("rtsp://localhost:554/file.mp4");

and the creation goes successfully but when i try to realize the player i get:

    Realize error: -7002 !!!

What's that??I get the same error with other file types and then I noticed that if i do: Manager.getSupportedProtocols(null) i get http, https, file and device and not rtsp while if i check for supported types i get only audio types and no video types.I can understand what's wrong!!

    Please help me!Thank u!

    Hi Paranoid_Android,

    Funny name

This error code is - KMsvMediaChanged -7002

I'm not sure but i think that nowadays (real, not buffered) streaming is supported only by Symbian C++ APIs.

    Re: S60 3rd Edition SDK

    Hi Paranoid_Android,

In JME we don't have real streaming so far, just buffered (downloads first then play). There's an interesting JavaOne presentation discussing MMAPI and streaming issues.

I have already posted a link to it here at FN DiBos, just search FN. Its name is Developing Streaming Media Applications Using the MMAPI: What Works, What Doesn't and What to Do About It

    See - http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...p/t-81627.html

The filename is PS_TS-5439_277439_124-1_FIN_v2.pdf, just look for it

    Hope it helps!

    Re: S60 3rd Edition SDK

    Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot! I was on vacation and have just returned. I haven't had the time to read all the new docs yet.

    "Java Developer Library" (recent edition):
Could you please provide the document's name and version? Link if possible

The playable content types can be queried dynamically by calling Manager.getSupportedContentTypes( "rtsp" ).
The supported content types for RTSP are listed in section Content types.

I'd like to know the content types supported, too.

    Thank you!

    Re: S60 3rd Edition SDK

    hi Juarez,

both are from the same doc:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/reso...rs_library.htm
    edition: 1
    editorial revision: 0
    date of publication: 2006-07-05
there is a section about streaming support in "Implementation notes" to JSR-135 MMAPI,

    regards,
    Peter

    Thanks again!
