Symbian, J2ME, MIDP 2.0 licenses for comercial development?

Hello guys. I'm a mobile app developer and i want to sell the things i do for mobile devices. What kind of licenses do i need to pay so i can sell an app that works on series 40, 60 and 80?

What if the app its free? (free distribution and can not be sell)

    THanks a lot

If you develop with Java, you might want to get your app JavaVerifed (www.javaverified.org) which is required by many distributors. The cost for that depends on the testing houses and on how many platforms you want to have your midlet verified. You also need a certificate yourself to sign you rmidlet before sending it to the testing house.

On Symbian C++ side, you need to get your application Symbian Signed (www.symbiansigned.com).

If you sell your applications through a carrier/operator you probably can ask information about getting your apps signed by the carrier.

(The following is from a Java perspective, I haven't looked into Symbian).

There's nothing preventing you from distributing your applications without "certification". It's only a requirement of some existing distribution channels, I believe.

But if your applications require more privileges, like accessing certain functions or modifying phone data, you will have to have them signed by one of the Certificate Authorities that are trusted by the phone by default.
