For a discussion about reading and writing strings using hyperterminal see

    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=80929

open the comxx: port in hyperterminal which pc suite uses as the dial out modem driver connect to the port auto connect auto baud
type "ATI1" and press enter (no quotes) and you get a repsonse "OK"

Open the Windows XP Control panel. click on the "Phone and Modem Connections". Click on the Modems tab.

Click on the "Nokia 6600 Modem" and Click Properties button. Note the COMxx port like COM17.

    Click on the "diagnostics" tab.
Click "Query modem" If this displays a list of commands.
If you get a succesful response then go back to hyperterminal and select the correct COM port previously noted like COM17.

If you get an error you have the wrong bluetooth modem driver loaded and you will have to load the special one that comes with the "PC Suite For NOKIA 6600"

    baud rate:- 115200
    data bits:- 5
    parity:- none
    stop bits:- 1
    flow control:- hardware
There is a real problem here my connection is autobaud and ends up as
    baud rate 2400
data bits :- 8 bits "5 bit was used 30 years ago"
    flow control :- software XON/XOFF

I created a new profile and let hyper terminal automatically connect.
type mode COMXX: wher XX is com port number

Dialup Networking" "Fax" and "bluetooth serial port". which service do i need to select to use hyperterminal
use Dialup Networking to select the port.

Yes SMS on works on Java based phones not Series 60 phones series of which 6600 was the original.

The version PC suite 6.7 onward removed the function to send and receive SMS so as Series 40 user I use at v6.6 to send SMS on my 6230i via bluetooth.
