    Question Matchmaking, Join mode, gameStart(..)

I have a game room created and two players joined that game room. I want to start the game in which those two players would match against each other.

What will call to gameStart(..) do? Will it enable routing game packets frm player to player or something liek that?

And how should I call gameStart(..) not to recieve VSC_ALREADY_JOIN error?

    Re: Matchmaking, Join mode, gameStart(..)

A player is already in a game when they are in a gameroom.
The SNAP Mobile Matchmaking functions gameStart (both join & Challenge modes), randomStart, and sortStart are meant to be used to match up players and join them into a gameroom.

You are calling gameStart while the players are already in the gameroom, thus you get the already joined error.

The matchmaking functions exist to make it easy for players to find and join matches together.

Please see the Game Developer's Guide For J2ME Clients section on matchmaking for more information.

    Thanks,
    Matt

What is the difference between being in-game and not being? Does SNAP send data differently when a player is in game?

    Re: Matchmaking, Join mode, gameStart(..)

When a user is in-game, data is not sent differently.
However, what data the user receives is/can be restricted.
    This takes 2 forms.

    1) IMPS (instant messaging and presence) data is restricted by extended presence policy. See game dev guide for more information.

    2) SNAP (game router) event masking policy. The event masking policy for the user set at login. Please see the game developers guide for more information about this.

Also, when a user joins a gameroom manually they are considered in-game. When a user starts a matchmaking session such as randomStart or challengeStart and while waiting for another user to begin they are technically in a gameroom but not yet in-game.

    Cheers,
    Matt
