Change SIP and WLAN settings programmatically?

    Hi

after a long time away from Symbian based Java development I now have a need to develop (preferably) a J2ME app for the Nokia E60.

The aim of this app is to configure the SIP and WLAN settings on the E60. The user would download a standard app, which would then drag a configuration file off the internet, and then use the settings in the config file to

I have no idea where to start. i.e.
    * Which API manages the SIP and WLAN settings
    * Does J2ME have write access to those settings?

Am I heading in the right direction with this link:
OMA DM: Management Object for SIP
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._0_en.pdf.html

Any initial pointers would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Russell

Re: Change SIP and WLAN settings programmatically?

Okay, I think I'm beginning to get the idea.

I'll record the useful bits I find here.

    Client Provisioning Registration v1.4
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._v1_4.zip.html
    - contains example XML file for the SIP settings

So I need to set up an XML file and get that onto the phone. I assume (from other posts http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...hlight=SIP+XML) that I can send this via SMS.

Can I place the XML file on a webserver and ask the user to point their browser to a URL? Will the E60 browser open it and parse the settings?

    Cheers
    Russell

Can anyone tell me if the only way to provision these setting is via SMS?

Can this be done by HTTP?

I'm also try to send the following via NOWSMS's "Send XML Settings Document" feature. Anyone else tried this and got it to work? Do I need to send the whole thing or can I omit the XML wrapper and start just with <wap-provisioningdoc version="1.1"> ?

    Cheers

Re: Change SIP and WLAN settings programmatically?

    Phone: Nokia E60 (Symbian 9.1)
    SMS Sender: NowSMS via www.kapow.co.uk

I'm able to send the SMS, but they arrive on the phone as multiple SMS, just containing numbers. When I open the message on the phone, nothing happens. I just see the codes. It does recognise it as an OMA message and it does seem to do anything with it.

Any ideas? I'm missing something very fundamental here.

    Got the same problem.
Is there a way to get/record the actual SIP configuration directly from a J2ME application ?

    hi all!
Good study you did! I think still at the same state as yours
But that really sounds like my needs.
I work for a company which aim to build some services for more ease of using a mobile such as having news without going through your browser. Such application needs sometime huge configuration therefore i'm studying any configurations protocole such as OMA provides. my first question is could someone possibly give a me the step-by-step procedure to build a OMA client provisioning? I'm interested in both opensource solutions and commercial solutions, but because I just study capabilities of tools and services, opensource could be appropriate to start with.

    Thank you in advance.

ps: where wbxml is located in the process? which tool should i use? simple download of wbxml file from a "http/wap|wbxml" server could be sufficent? I gonna check what nowsms provide but awaiting and answer from any volonter
