    Smile java.io.IOException in N6111

I'm using N6111 to do http connection, but it always catch the java.io.IOException. I've changed the App.access-->communication-->network access and App.access--> communication-->connectivity with ask everytime..but it didn't seem to work.
I've tried the application with N7610, and it works just fine.....
Does S40 that only have this problem?
    Thx

    hi man4mobile,
    welcome aboard!

    try:
    reboot phone as described here:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...highlight=6111
try to run any pre-compiled midlet which use http connection, for example from Nokia SKD samples or SUn WTK samples,

it's rather something with a phone then general S40 platform issue,
    regards,
    Peter

Have you set the internet access properly? If you can use Web browser on your phone, you have already correct settings, you need to go to Settings->Configuration menu and select Activate default in alla applications. The you have to also create an access point for your applications through Personal configuration settings and choose that AP to be your Preferred access point.

    hello,
have you tried sample midlets from sun/nokia sdks as mentioned? that will set firm base for further investigation if they couldn't be run succesfully on that specific device,

First check with sample midlets like Peter mentioned, but if your access point settings are empty, I am guessing none of those will work.

You need to create the access point yourself through Personal configuration settings. The settings for that depend on your carrier / operator.

    Hi man4mobile,

In your phone, midlets don't use the same network settings as you wap browser. You have to config a specific access point to be used by your midlet, following these steps:

    1) Menu
    2) Settings
    3) Configuration
    4) Personal Configuration Settings
    5) Options / Add New
    6) Scroll down to "Access Point"
    7) Configure all the Access Point data
    8) Click "Back"
    9) In the "Preferred Access Point" option, choose the one you've just configured. It will be now used by midlets.
