IMHO the security exception could be that you have not given the necessary Permissions(MIDlet-Permissions in JAD/MF file or it might occour if an access permission have been asked and you have selected Not to access. Please try by allowing the permission message. Also would like to know whether you have signed your application.

Is the device a customized carrier / operator version? If yes, which carrier? (some carriers have a little different security domain settings in their phones)

    hi,
I believe that newer Nokias (and other manufacturers) devices simply follow JTWI (JSR185) recommendation for non-trusted (unsigned) midlets and SocketConnections over ports like 80, 443 and 8080:
if any connection is to be opened over that port SecurityException should be thrown according to recommendation for any unsigned midlet,
so thats IMHO not related to permissions in jad/jar but to using non-signed midlet with socket connection over 80 port on newer devices,

    regards,
    Peter
