interesting networking communication problem driving me mad

hi guys, bit stuck on something i hope you can help with

    to give the relevent info

i have a servlet, the servlet processes a xml file and saves the output to a vector

then the vector is sent over the internet to my midlet

problem is, how do i send the vector, because it doesnt look like objectinputstream is supported by j2me, so is there another way i could do it?

i tried to use a for loop reading one value from the vector at a time and sending it but that didnt appear to work....

thanks, any ideas would be really appreciated!

    hi,

you can simply write that xml file into output from servlet and send in response,
then you can parse response either with 3rd party lib for XML like kXml parser or if phone supports JSR-172 with sax parser,
there is no support for serializing objects/objectinput/outputstreams,
see java.io.* package description in MIDP 2.0 specification, you will see what is available,

    hth,
    regards,
    Peter
