    Signal Strength and Type

    Hello,

I have doen some searching on the forum and i have found some information on how to obtain the signal strength.

However i would also like to know the signal type, i.e. 3G or GSM.

    Is this possible?

    Re: Signal Strength and Type

Well i still haven't found out how to do this:

    I'm using a 6630 with v8.0a.

So far i have looked at

RConnectionMonitor (no joy there as you need an active connection)
RCall GetBearerService() (again requires an active service)

    I have also looked at
etel3rdparty.h (apparently not included in this model of handset) and at the Etelmm.h (as it is not a public api i can not use it for this information)

I have to ask, am i using the correct terminology for locating this information)
i.e. searching on WCDMA and bearer type?

I have also found plenty of people asking this question but no useful answers.

If some one could please point me in the right direction so that i can finally get off this problem

Try MobInfo - read the documentation on it, in particular you cannot use User::WaitForRequest with it

    Re: Signal Strength and Type

For what would appear to be fairly simple functionality, i've been struggling with this for almost a week....

I have downloaded the MobInfo classes etc. However after a brief search of the .h files i can't see anything that leaps out as the network bearer, unless it is embedded in one of the other identifiers that is returned.

Additionally , how do you install the .sis, when ever i try i get an error:

"Installation Security Error. Unable to install"

I had assumed that as it was signed it should install easily, but there is obviously something simple i'm missing.

Again any insights would be appreciated
