Replacing "default app" (standby) with my own C++ app in N80

I'm developing an application that needs to be the standby application instead of the N80's standby app.
Im writing the app in Symbian C++

Is there a possible way to do this ?

It is not likely you would succeed, especially on a 3rd edition device.
NB: if you just want to create a screen saver, use the screen saver API.

Thanks for your reply, but it's not a screensaver i want to write, however i made the app the "Topmost" application and it catches all key events. The only one that i use is the menu button which lets the user switch to other apps. However when the user closes the other app i want to have my program in focus instead of the phones standby application......

I think it should work just as it did previosly, so just make a focus monitoring background process and when the focus is switched to the phone, then put your own UI in top of it.
