I was hoping I could get some advice on the following MIDlet payment application. (If anyone has done this, or discovered operator settings that might prevent this working for UK operators)
On installation the app configures a statuc push registry SMS port using the .jad file.
MIDlet-Push-1: sms://:10777, TestMIDlet, *
An install notification is also configured in the .jad file;
Once the application is installed correctly, ie a 900 code is returned, the server application sends an sms message with header configured for port 10777, ie the TestMIDlet app. This notifies that MIDlet to activiate and process the sms message.
The flow of this is as follows;
1a. The user tries to download the MIDlet using a WAP push link
1b. the server verifies that the device can support the midlet using the device user-agent (ie checks support for MIDP2, PIM API, push registry etc), and delivers the app
2a. The user installs the MIDlet to their device, the device sends a 900 to the install-notify URL
2b. the server sends a sms message to sms port 10777
3. The MIDlet activates and processes the sms
Is this a feasable configuration?
