    Question Sending email

    Hi guys,

I am new to MIDP development. I looked for a simple java example on sending an email from a mobile. I found a C++ example (S60_Platform_POP_IMAP_Example_v1_1.zip) but no java one. I did find something in an OMA example (OMA_Device_Management_Test_Server_v1_0.zip) but being new I have no idea how to use this. I also found an SMS example (\Nokia\Tools\Carbide_j_1_5\examples\Chat) which was great but this seams to transfer messages directly to other mobiles and does not use internet SMTP/IMAP services.

Is there anyone out there who has an example MIDlet project that I can open in Eclipse or Netbeans and build without having to alter anything? I need a simple base to start from before I alter things to suit my needs. Any help much appriciated.

    Thanks
    Simon

    Re: Sending email

    Hi Simon,

AFAIK there's no JME API for sending e-mail msgs from a MIDlet, unfortunately.

    hi Simon,

standard GCF (MIDP 2.0): simply write data into socket:
    http://developers.sun.com/techtopics...ork/index.html
    (EmailMidlet.java)

Honestly I never tried - but shouldn't be that possible to send MMS (JSR-205) to email account?

    regards,
    Peter

    Re: Sending email

    Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for sharing these links. I had not realized it was required just a simple socket connection for sending e-mails to SMTP server. Maybe I am too used to JavaMail
