Any way to get the intensity level in IR communication?

    Hi,

I'm interested if there is any way to detect the relative intensity level in IR communication. Does the IR technology used in mobile phones support measuring the signal intensity? I would want to either Java or C++.

    Thank you very much.

Nothing like that on the Java side, hopefully someone will answer with information on C++ side.

What I'm actually trying to do is to find a way to detect if there is an absorptive layer (such as a plastic film) placed in between IR receiver (mobile phone) and IR emitter (mobile, remote control.. etc) and possibly to measure the relative absorbance it takes from the original signal.

I have few ideas how to do it otherwise, but thought to ask first if it can be done more straightway
