    Exclamation rtsp Authentication

Hi, I'm developing an rtsp client for S60 2nd edition and 3rd edition.
The client works good and I can connect and play any rtsp link.
Now I'm working on Authentication, so a client that want streaming must provide user name and password if the stream request authentication. So I want to know how can I provide this information that are in the standard of the rtsp protocol. With QuickTime I can connect to a stream that request an authentication (if the stream request authentication quicktime show User name and password edit box), but in the SDK I can't find anything about authentication of rtsp stream; it's possible to connect to an authenticated stream with CVideoPlayerUtility? If so, how and where can I provide username and password?

How did you develop your RTSP client? I am trying to do the same thing but am struggling to find a good example...or any examples.

    Hi,
I cannot see any requirement for user name and password in my Apple Darwin quicktime serve v5.5.
I connect via my WLAN connection to my server in the access log there is a field for user and password. The URL description does not say how to put in a user and password.

However when running a stream on my Forum Champion Nokia E61 I can check the information by pressing "Pause" ->Options ->Clip Details. Scrolling down to web address gives

    PHP Code:
    rtsp://TestUser:passthis@192.168.2.2:554/sample_50kbit.3gp
    "TestUser" username
    "passthis" password
This was entered by adding a bookmark and inputing a username and password after the Access point.

The information sent to server in raw code is:-

    PHP Code:
    OPTIONS rtsp://192.168.2.2:554 RTSP/1.0
    ClientIDRealOnePlayer_s60.30.21.02_24-May-2006_12:44:53_epoc_av30_armv5
    ClientChallenge
    8287d54f3488bebbcec8feb0c902dede
    PlayerStarttime
    : [18/01/2006:12:49:38 00:00]
    GUID00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
    CompanyID
    jJxhHLoTemEdgPGev/T26w==
    User-AgentRealMedia Player/mc.30.21.02 (s60epoc_av30_armv5
You will see that the username and password has not been sent and does not arrive at the Darwin Server. My conclusion is that the information is perhaps hidden in challenge.

The Helix Stream server documentation discusses username and password for streams at
    http://service.real.com/help/library...les/output.htm
see the account based push model and is for broadcast control.
This article says you need good knowledge of broadcast technology to set this up.

the ITEF Specifically states on the RTP protocol
    9.2 Authentication and Message Integrity

Authentication and message integrity services are not defined at the
RTP level since these services would not be directly feasible without
a key management infrastructure. It is expected that authentication
and integrity services will be provided by lower layer protocols
    .
    Good Luck

    Hi see forum example "S60_Platform_Video_Example_v2_0"
    s60 3rd ed build

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._0_en.zip.html

    Hi,
I think this is fine if the client and server are in same domain but if they r in different domain then how could I pass this domain name to the url with username and password.
I got from somewhere that I need to put username as user@domainname and pass this to the url. I tried this but its not wotking.
Please help me resolve this problem.

    Thanks in advance.
