    my first game

    Hi,

    I just started trying to develop some games for J2ME. This is my first game so far:
    http://cheiz.port5.com/SS.jad
    http://cheiz.port5.com/SS.jar(accessible from phone as well).
    The objective is to shoot as much sheep as possible in 1 minute. It's designed for the Nokia 7210 platform (N40,128x128x12bpp) but it may work on newer models as well. I run it on a 6100.
    I notice that the game sometimes runs slower during the first couple of seconds. Is this a normal effect, caused by some background activities? Or is my code probably buggy?
    I hope some people would like to check it out.

    hi,

    could be various resons, most probably cpu-overhead during game instantiation (first few seconds of program run as you noted),
    review your game code with tips e.g. from that resources:

    Just to add what Peter suggested ::

    Some points to be checked in your code include,

    * Proper handling of Threads.
    * Closing of RecordStore after using it.
    * Minimise the heap memory used.
    * Set the objects to null after using it(For eg: Image objects).

    Cheiz,

    I invite you to load your game to http://www.mobilerated.com. It's a site for free mobile phone games, and we're working hard to add features to help developers like yourself gain exposure, and get feedback from users.

    I'd be interested to hear any feedback you might have regarding our site as well.
