    Nokia N73 SDIO

    Hi,

Is it possible to use SDIO devices, for example SD RFID reader, with Nokia N73?

    Hi,

Some nokia phones (5140 & 3220) have rfid extensions (shells),
but I can't find any information about using the SDIO slot for that.

Did you get any answer to your question ?

    I'm having the same need...

    Thanks.

    Nabil.

    Hi Nabil,

I haven't got any answer to my question. I know about those two phones you mentioned. Actually I have used 5140 with RFID shell.
I also have an SDIO RFID reader, which is working quite well with Pocket PC. I was just curious to know, if it is possible to used that reader with Nokia phone (for example N73), which has an SD memory card support.

    Hi Matti,

I'm working with the RFID Shells of the 3220. Do you know the difference between the 5140 und 3220 Shells? Which standards does the 5140 support and with distances for reading an RFID Tag are possible.

Would be great, if you could provide me with some information.

    Regards, Gerald

    Hi Gerald,

Both phones supports standards which are used in NFC technology (ISO14443A, ISO14443B + Felica). Reading distance is few centimeters between reader and a tag.

Thanks Matti; and another question: do you know, if the SDK from the 3220 is also suitable for the 5140? I also read something about the LI Server and that is neccessary to have some LI Server licences to implement applicaitons for the 5140. Can you tell me something about that?

    Cheers,

    Gerald

    Hello,

Well, I haven't been working with Nokia RFID for while. About a half a year ago I try to find out how to use RFID shells with my own application, and the only possibility then was to use LI Server (which requires a license). And the costs were too great then. But I'm not sure how it's working now.
