Error >>> java.lang.RuntimeException: command failed with Symbian error code: -4

I have using NetBeans with S60 3rd Ed. to develop a program.

My program mainly contains some binary files, and I put it as resource file (in res folder)
The jar is built with arround 5MB.

And I try to run this program with S60 emulator, however it promt out an error of "java.lang.RuntimeException: command failed with Symbian error code: -4"

    I also doing some testing:
1,The testing is a resource of binary file arround 400KB, and write a normal read data code. Build as a jar and it's running normally in S60 emulator.

2,Then I copy that resource file 1 times and put it in resource without any reading process. Build as a jar and run it in emulator and get the same error.

3, I also run the Carbide J stand alone, and get the same error as NetBeans promted.

Moreover, I can run all the programs with emulator of Java Wireless Toolkit 2.3 normally.

    What happen for this error?
Is it related to Carbide J, or the file size, or the S60 SDK...

    Regards,
    Frank

Re: Error >>> java.lang.RuntimeException: command failed with Symbian error code: -4

    Additional:
    More testing,
As mention before, I have create a 5MB jar file which mainly contains binary file in resource.
And there is around 4.9MB are the resource files.

After I delete some of the files, and re-built the jar to around 1MB. It can be run in S60 emulator and install in N80 mobile.

I want to ask did there have limitation of file size on resource file or jar file for S60 emulator? (As I known that the S60 3rd Ed. device mostly are jar size unlimited)

    Cheers,
    Frank

    How can I solve this?
I just cannot run the programs with the S60 Emulator.
The same programs is success to running on the Emulator of Java Wireless Toolkit 2.3 and Prototype_4_0_S60_MIDP_Emulator

    Thanks,

    Hi ,

    How can I solve this?
I just cannot run the programs with the S60 Emulator.

Which SDK/emulator are you using? Can't you increase its heap size?

Re: Error >>> java.lang.RuntimeException: command failed with Symbian error code: -4

I have already try to increase the heap size in preference of emulator.
I am using the "S60 3RD EDITION SDK FOR MIDP"

I adready using the System.gc() within the code begin and end of each method.
I have compare the manifest with the SDK example, there did not have any different about the space or blank line. I also try to change the setting of manifest from the example and replace to my jar one.

    All are not work.
Moreover, the error occur at the installation of program to emulator. And also cannot install to N80 or N91, A error of "Unable to Install" occur at 80% complete of installation.

    Cheers,
    Frank
