    Smile PC Bluetooth Dongle Programming

Bluetooth programming on Handheld devices are easier since the SDKs provide mediated access to the bluetooth device on it. But on PC, as far as I have seen, several complexities and confusions exists.

Currently there is no fully functional Java (J2SE) sample code available on net that implements a bluetooth dongle controller. I was trying to develop a PC version of MobiLuck-Style application that sends a text message automatically to all the devices that passes through the signel range of the Dongle. But I was stuck up with the knowledge that there is no package available in j2se sdk to handle bluetooth.

Kind hearts around here pls provide your valuable suggestions to complete this work. Every one suggests Benhui.Net which is unfortunately down currently.

What operating system on the PC? If Windows, check Microsoft's Bluetooth APIs (if any) from http://msdn.microsoft.com/

Typically all bluetooth stack implementations will support standard socket API's. If you're using linux BlueZ it has its own API's, still sockets are supported.

    Re: PC Bluetooth Dongle Programming

Let me describe the MobiLuck style PC application in my mind (dream)

    - searches and finds all the devices in the range.

    - Connects to each of those devices, pushes a text message, disconnects
(i think it is not possible to send message to all. Correct me pls)

repeats these two steps in a defined intervel of time.(30seconds ?)

Windows XP SP2 is the primary target. If portable without much difficulty,
Linux would also be a choice

    Any suggestions pls ????

    Re: PC Bluetooth Dongle Programming

Whether this combination can control the bluetooth dongle completely ?

    Dongle-> Microsoft Bluetooth API -> intelbth.dll -> BlueCove -> J2SE

Is this the best choice atleast for Win XP SP2 ?

Can someone guide me to some BlueCove sample implementation ?

just a suggestion.. try using avetanaBluetooth. The Intention of avetanaBluetooth is to enable Bluetooth Development on Desktop PCs using the standardized JSR-82 APIs.
for system requirement for Windows, the Widcomm Stack that comes with most BT-Dongles is required. avetanaBluetooth supports Widcomm Version 1.4.2.10 SP 5 or later. 3.0.1 is preferred.

if u have windows service pack 2 and u can connect any dongle and code. or you could use bluecove (but this works with some dongles) and works with inbuilt bluetooth in laptops and also there are linux versions.
