    Carbide.vs after installation problem

    I have installed:
    VS2003 .NET
    ActivePerl 5.8.8 build 819
    JRE se 1.5.0_08-b03

After completing installation of Carbide.vs, when starting VisualStudio, I have got an error: "ERROR in Carbide.vs pre-initialization. Add-in may not work correctly: File or assembly name vjslib, or one of its dependensies, was not found."

Later when creating Symbian S60 project I'm getting: "The type initializer for "com.nokia.iguana.sdkconfiguration.SDKDetector" threw an exception"

    and returns to NewProject dialog.

Re-installing of Carbide.vs does not help.

    Re: Carbide.vs after installation problem

Yes, reinstalling Carbide.vs would not help in the case as you seem to have a broken installation of the .NET Framework that is used by VS and Carbide.vs.

vjslib is one of the components of the .NET framework - for support of J# I suspect. That component, typically found in a directory like C:\yourwindowsdirectory\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322, is now missing from your installation or has not been properly installed.

You should have gotten it either installing VS itself or - more likely - the J# runtime. So to fix, I would suggest that you first reinstall the J# runtime and if that does not help, then the full VS.

    Re: Carbide.vs after installation problem

Thank you very much for your fast and prompt answer.

In fact, the reinstallation of J# redistributables has solved the problem.

However, I had also installed VJ# redist 2.0 package coming with VS2005 and .NET 2.0, and that was not detected by Carbide.vs, which may be misleading...

    Anyway, thank you wery much.

The installer checks that J# is installed, apparently the check is such that J# for 2005/.NET 2.0 also satisfies the same check.. :-(
