    RComm::Open() capability

    Hi,

    I have problems with using RComm. RComm::Open() always returns KErrPermissionDenied both on device and on emulator. Epocwnd.out always contains the same error message whatever capabilities I set when trying on emulator:
    *PlatSec* ERROR - Capability check failed - A Message (function number=0x00000007) from Thread XX.exe[XXXXXXXX]0001::Main, sent to Server !CommServer, was checked by Thread c32exe.exe[101f7989]0001::CCommServer and was found to be missing nothing. (An 'always fail' policy check).
    In my opinion this message looks quite strange. Does anybody know what capability is required to use RComm?

    Thanks,
    ivey

    Re: RComm::Open() capability

    This is what it says in the Doxygen Analysis of capabilities for Configuration GT_9.1 in the SDK help:

    "Capabilities required depend on the port type specified. Bluetooth and Infrared ports: LocalServices, RS232 serial port: None"

    Re: RComm::Open() capability

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply. I am trying to open a serial port (DATAPORT::2). Why do I always get KErrNotSupported then?
    Regards,

    Re: RComm::Open() capability

    Hi,

    RComm::Open() returns

    KErrPermissionDenied if the port given in aName is wrong; KErrNotSupported if this port is not supported by the CSY or the hardware; KErrLocked if the port has already been opened
    Best Regards

    Is it sure that DATAPORT::2 exists? What does TSerialInfo say?
