    SATSA API on Nokia devices

    Hello,

Is there a Series 40 3rd edition Feature Pack 2 available yet? Or is FP1 the current release and the devices Nokia 5200, Nokia 5300, Nokia 6085, Nokia 7360, Nokia 7373, and Nokia 7390 belong to that category itself?

I'm searching for a mobile phone and a developer’s kit that support the use of the APDU package from the SATSA API (JSR-177). Does already something exist by Nokia?

    kind regards,
    octavian

Hi octavian! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!!

All the devices you mentioned except 7360 are Series 40 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices.
You can view the devices and their API support in the device specifications page available in this link http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/matrix_all_1.html
I have seen that Security and Trust Services API (JSR-177) is supported in Series 40 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices. But not sure about APDU package.

    Regards
    Gopal

    thank you gopal,

ok, it seems that most JSR 177 compliant phones from Nokia do not support the APDU and JCRMI packages. However, Harti says he tested with 7373 and the APDU part is there. Nevertheless, the application needs to be signed by an operator in order to access the Smart Card. In addition it is not clear if it is possible to access the Smart Card in parallel with an ongoing phone call (have a communication channel with the Card in parallel to the one needed for the phone call). Is there anybody who could give an answer to these two issues?

    thank you so much again,
    octavian

On Series 40 devices you need to exit the midlet if you are making a phone call. So the simple answer is: it is not possible to access the smart card at the same time with a phone call on Series 40 devices.
