    Eclipse Carbide external jar??

    Hi,

I am running Eclipse 3.1.2 and Carbide 1.5. Furthermore I have a small program that uses an external JAR (kxml parser). I have the external JAR in the Java Build Path/Libraries. So compile the project is going fine.

Now, I check the checkbox for in the Java Build Path/Order and Export to export my MIDlet including the external JAR, as it is described in an EclipseME article. Well, using Carbide to generate a New Application Package will not integrate the external JAR. Question is why is it not working?

Is there anybody with an idea to do it?

    Matt

    Re: Eclipse Carbide external jar??

    hi,
not real answer, as side-note only: if you would use NetBeans/Mobility pack+ Nokia S** packs then including external libraries (either globally/project based/configuration based) will be a piece of cake, I've used kXml without any issue (including obsfucation) while learning parsers,
I'm mentioning that because I've already noticed topic "external .jars in Eclipse/Carbide.j issue" many times on forum and also while googling,
    e.g.:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...archid=1596526
    only on that section,
and that's not only Nokia devices/Eclipse issue:

    regards,

    Re: Eclipse Carbide external jar??

    Hi Peter,

thanks for the info. Well, I can know build the JAR with the external JAR by unzipping the external JAR and putting the content into the /bin directory of my project. Problem is everytime I do a "clean project", the unzipped content in the /bin directory is deleted.

Well, I am not really happy about it. I can't understand why Eclipse in combination with Carbide do not support to include external JAR into my project. I mean this is not a special case, this happens in very software project.

Still if someone knows how to do it I would be very grateful.

    Re: Eclipse Carbide external jar??

    Hello

I have the same problem : I have an external jar to include to my project.
When I compile all is ok.
When I run my project, it fails : external jar is not found.

    How can I do ?

Please make sure that the Class files of the external Jar file is also bundled in your Jar file.

External class files are not in jar file.
If I unzip .jar, copy external class files, zip again and rename it ro jar, my application runs well.

How can I tell to eclipse or carbide.j to package these external classes in my jar file ?

My external jar has been added to my project's build path.
The checkbox (in Order and export tab of the Java Build Path) of my external jar is checked.

What I am doing wrong ?
