    JSR-75 permission

    Hey guys,
I'm currently working on an application which uses quite a bit of the JSR-75 functionality. On a Nokia 6131 - where the data access is set to "Ask every time" by default - the user has to fight with security alerts ("Allow app. to edit and add new data in ...).

    My questions:

1.) Is there any chance to get the status information for data access in Java? (So I can react in the application before the first alert pops up)

2.) Is there any way to change these settings without educating to user how to change it after the application is started?

    3.) Any different ideas?????

I know that all this is not necessary with manufacturer signing but since we like to offer the app also for download I somehow need a solution.

Thanks for your help in advance,
    spieri

I've copied this message to the FN Interview forum, this is a good question to ask of Risto Helin

    hi spieri,

    you can call checkPermission(...) method:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ght=Permission
    (thread about that subject)

signing with certificates allows to minimize end-users harness:

but jsr-75 requres operator/manufacturer certs to remove security promts completly

off: most of the users are customized with appliation/suite settings and most of software - especially 3rd party/free software not those disitrbuted via official channels [nokia/operators]) have FAQ sections about "things to be done" after application is isntalled on device to have better experience,

    Re: JSR-75 permission

Thanks! Do you know of any 3rd party application which educates the user in advance to change the settings?

It would be interesting to me how other are dealing with this.
