I'm working on a project where I have to create:
(i) a server program in java programming language; the server being my PC (Windows Xp)
(ii) a client program in J2ME (Mobile phone running on J2ME Platform)
The client shall interact with the server via Bluetooth.
(I already have a J2ME toolkit and a Bluetooth dongle.)
I don't know how to go about creating server programs. Also, it seems that I don't have the appropriate tools.
From what i've learnt, there are two different approachesfor implementing server program:
1.uses Windows serial communications interface
2.uses Bluetooth APIs directly
At this stage, I only have to send messages from my PC to my mobile phone in order to get aquainted to the technologies. However, the project itself is about cinema advertising. The goal is to be able to download video trailers and also book cinema tickets from my mobile phone. (The client remains my mobile phone and the server, my PC).
I wish to know whether both approaches for implementing the server program are appropriate for my project. If yes, then which is most appropiate and why?
For the 2nd approach, I know I have that I'll need a bluetooth SDK/Toolkit/Stack. Can you please tell me where I can find one?
Any suggestions and sample codes (especially those which will allow me get acquainted to the technologies to be used) will be highly appreciated.
Looking forward to your reply.
