    Screen Resolution

    Hi All

    I have an app that has been happily running for about 18 months, previously used on Nokia 6600, 6680 and N70. Yesterday I Tried it On An E70. Everything still works BUT I noticed data displayed on a custom item is vertically "Sqashed" i.e the lines on the item run over each other.

    I have checked and I now know that the E70's Screen resolution is 352 X 416 while the resolution of the 6600, 6680 and N70 is 176 X 208. I have also run the same program using (IBM's J9 JVM) on a K-JAM Resolution = 320 X 214 and the app works perfectly.

    What do I need to do to get my app working properly on an E70 (without having multiple versions of the app)

    /*
    width=176
    height=63
    */
    public void paint(Graphics g, int w, int h){
    .
    .
    .
    Font f=Font.getFont(Font.FACE_MONOSPACE, Font.STYLE_PLAIN, Font.SIZE_LARGE);
    f.getFont(Font.FONT_INPUT_TEXT);
    g.setGrayScale(0);
    g.fillRect(0,0,299,62);
    g.setGrayScale(255);
    g.fillRect(0,0,299,62);
    g.setGrayScale(0);
    g.setColor(255,0,0);
    g.setFont(f);

    g.drawString(datadescr,0,0,0);
    g.drawString(dataprice,0,30,0);
    g.drawString(datapack,0,45,0);
    .
    .
    .
    }

    Thanks
    Steve

    Re: Screen Resolution

    If anyway possible, all drawing should be done considering the actual screen resolution. So relate all your drawing to getWidth()/getHeight() values, that way the java application will be more likely working on greater variety of phones.

    Re: Screen Resolution

    Test your app on all these devices, remove any size realted hardcoding from the custom items, using getHieight/getWidth and get PreferedHeight & PreferedWidth for the custom items to make it work across all devices and screen sizes.

    thanks,
